  10.        InfoSearch allows users to search and browse virtually all
  11.        SGI documentation: online books, man pages and release
  12.        notes. It is best described as a graphical, "web-based",
  13.        alternative to many standard IRIX Interactive Desktop(TM)
  14.        tools and commands such as: _g_r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s(1), _r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s(1),
  15.        _x_m_a_n(1), and _m_a_n(1). Note that at this time it does not
  16.        contain every feature offered by each of those tools taken
  17.        individually.

  19.        NNNNooootttteeee:::: As of release 3.x and beyond, the InfoSearch "client"
  20.        is a process that simply launches your desktop web-browser
  21.        (as specified in the Toolchest->Desktop->Customize-
  22.        >Utilities panel).

  24.        The InfoSearch "client" is any web-browser that connects to
  25.        a Common Gateway Interface (CGI) process (referred to as the
  26.        InfoSearch "server") that works in conjunction with your
  27.        HTTP (web) server.  A standard "web-browser" such as
  28.        netscape(1) is used to contact any available InfoSearch
  29.        "server".  Point your browser at an InfoSearch "server" URL;
  30.        such as:  http://<hostname>/infosearch/.  You can also
  31.        access up-to-date content (books, man pages, release notes,
  32.        and more) from SGI at:  http://techpubs.sgi.com/.

  104.        (the _r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s subsystem), you can view the release notes on
  105.        your screen.

  107.        Note:  You can read the online release notes for most
  108.               products before installing the software.  Refer to
  109.               the booklet in your CD-ROM case for more information.

  111.        If you have a graphics system, select ``Release Notes'' from
  112.        the Help submenu of the Toolchest. This displays the
  113.        _i_n_f_o_s_e_a_r_c_h(1) or _g_r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s(1) graphical browser for the
  114.        online release notes.

  116.        Refer to the _i_n_f_o_s_e_a_r_c_h(1) or _g_r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s(1) man page(s) for
  117.        information on options to the command.
